Location
Archetypal Showroom (G/F, 15 Moon Street, Wan Chai)
As we close the door of our showroom in Wan Chai this week, we look back at the growth and memories created in the last decade at this special location. We thank the support of our friends and clients, whom we have had the pleasure of meeting in or out of the showroom, and above all, our showroom team, who made our showroom from a concept store 10 years ago to a well-known design destination in our industry.
Whilst we aim to have a new show space by early next year, we are excited to announce that we have 2 off-site events in the 3rd and 4th quarter of 2024 for our professional clients and the public. Archetypal will continue to inspire the industry in new ways through this ever-changing climate.
Although our collections have evolved throughout the years, our ethos of bringing unique design-focused brands has never changed. Here are some of the highlights of some of the events we hosted in our showroom, showcasing the best of international independent design brands:
We are proud to have launched the infamous designer Michael Young's Dub lighting collection under his name at the grand opening of our showroom in 2014. The collaboration was an instant success and has allowed Archetypal to set a new standard for brand representation in the industry for years to come.
2015 was a busy year for us as we had 3 presentations at our showroom. The Nouveau Rebel collection by Lee Broom display drew enormous momentum for us with their marble wonders. This year also marked the beginning of the collaboration between British design powerhouse Tom Dixon and Archetypal. This collaboration has reinforced the industry's opinion of Archetypal as a serious design advocate in Hong Kong.
We also had the pleasure of hosting a special Retrospective Exhibition for another iconic British brand Anglepoise. We were able to give the Hong Kong media an in-depth showcase of the design journey of such a historic brand with the help of their CEO.
The Department Store by Lee Broom was launched in Hong Kong at our showroom in 2016 and it was another well-received event by our industry peers. The department store's iconic pieces such as Crescent and Ring were seen in many landmark projects in Hong Kong!
At Archetypal we believe the best works are often offsprings of cross-disciplinary practices coming together. In June we were able to host the launch of the Odin Chair by New Zealand Studio Resident in collaboration with top Hong Kong branding agency Eight Partnership.
As a proud Hong Kong company, it was important for us to spend time and resources in nurturing more Asian design talents. 2017 was the perfect time to partner up with Hong Kong-based brand Innermost. Innermost works with local and international designers to create some of the most recognisable lamps at the time.
In the subsequent years, we continued to explore new brands around the world and we were delighted to represent the likes of Buster + Punch, Giopato & Coombes, Coedition and in 2018 we hosted La Chance's Asia tour with their CEO.
As our company evolved with our clients and the industry, it was time to review who we have become and we decided to update our branding to better reflect what we represent. Our friends at Rush Hour Media, now Rush Hour Digital, have done a tremendous job of redesigning our website.
Archetypal co-hosted a special tasting event with Remy Martin in 2022 to celebrate the regional launch of their special edition cognac decanter by Lee Broom at our newly renovated showroom. It was the perfect opportunity to relaunch our showroom and align with such prestige plans.
2022 also marks the 10-year anniversary of our Archetypal. A private viewing was organised with our party to showcase the latest Divine Inspiration collection by Lee Broom.
